    Vision Helpdesk Installation Wizard


    We assume you have downloaded latest Vision Helpdesk Setup zip from our client area.

    Steps to Download Latest Vision Helpdesk Setup

    Vision Helpdesk License is based on domain name. While purchase if you have choose License Domain as :  yourdomain.com  that means you can install Vision Helpdesk on any folder under your domain -- example: http://yourdomain.com/support/  

    Upload the Vision Helpdesk files to support folder and in browser open setup url example : http://yourdomain.com/support/setup/

    Here you can agree terms and conditions and move to next step for installation.

    Step II] Authentication

    Create a new database on your server -- If you are using cPanel you can create database from cPanel >> MySql Wizard. Here in this step you have to enter the database details that you have created.

    Host  --  Enter your mysql server hostname here. If your mysql server is installed on same server as your web server then you can use localhost. 

    Username --  Enter the database username.

    Password --  Enter the database password.

    Port -- Default MySql port is 3306 - If you have some other port configured for your mysql server then you can enter the right port here.

    Database -- Enter the database name.

    PHP Path -- Default PHP Path on Linux servers is /usr/bin/php or /usr/local/bin/php  If you have php path different then default you can set the right path here. This path is used for email piping.

    Step III]  System Requirements

    Basic requirement to install Vision Helpdesk is
    • PHP 5.2 or higher.
    • MySql 4.x and higher.  
    • PHP Curl is required.
    • 777 permission should be set to support/config.php file
    • 777 permission should be set to support/console/pipe.php file.
    Also some secondary requirements are like -- 
    • magic_quotes_gpc should be set to ON in your PHP installation php.ini file.
    • OPEN SSL module required if you are using IMAP or POP SSL to fetch emails.
    Here you can choose if you wish to run a NEW INSTALLATION or MIGRATE FROM Vision Helpdesk V2 to V3.

    Step IV] Settings

    In above step if you choose New Installation you will see below screen 

    Here you will setup super admin user for your Vision Helpdesk 


    Admin Information

    First name --  Sheena 

    Last name --  Sen

    Admin password -- you can set admin password here -- By default user name is admin. You can change username after installation from your profile area.

    Admin email -- This email is used to send ticket alert emails and forgot password for manage portal email will be sent this email. (This email should not be same as your email queues). You can use any personal email address here.

    System Information

    Company name --  This is display name in left panel -- example :  Your Company Name

    System default email  --  This email is used as from email to send email alerts to staff members. you can set email like support@yourdomain.com

    Helpdesk Url -- Here you can set your helpdesk client portal url, In our example http://yourdomain.com/support/  will be the helpdesk url.

    Step IV] Migration (In step 3 if you have choose Migration from V2 ) then you will see below screen 

    Here you will have to enter your existing Vision Helpdesk V2 database login details to migrate to new V3.

    You can choose what options you wish to migrate to V3 from V2. Like Tickets, Staff, Email queues etc.

    Note : Migration could take couple of hours based on your database size -- please make sure you do not close the browser window till migration is complete.
    (We recommend to seek our support team help with migration)

    This is final step -- If you reach this step you can delete the setup folder from your installation. On this page you will see your login details for your Vision Helpdesk.

    Once you have complete setup you can go to manage portal http://yourdomain.com/support/manage/  This is where admin and staff will login. Client portal will be http://yourdomain.com/support/
